I read this article and with most things I am skeptical, but if it isn’t overly time consuming, mildly challenging, makes a little sense to me and doesn’t cause any obvious harm or side effects I am all for experimenting.

So what is IMT?

IMT is basically using a device that makes inhaling hard and works your breathing muscles. (I am using it as I write this post). I use it for 30 breathes or as I do another activity whichever is longer, in a week I have gone from the lowest setting zero which was really hard when I started to level 2. I have slept better and my breathing which has always had a funny rhythm anyway seems to be getting better.

Reported benefits of IMT

  • After six weeks of 30 inhalations a day test subjects systolic blood pressure dropped by 12 mm that is twice as much as aerobic exercise.

  • Improved sleep in patients with sleep apnea

  • Improved cardiac function during training

What am I using?

I am using the Power Breathe Sports Performance Plus Red. It is only £59.99 for something that could have a big effect on my health. I think you guys should all be fit enough to handle this one :) lower strength ones are available. You can get it now at the link below.
